There are various areas on our platform where you'll see a progress bar indicating how much of the content you have completed. This guide includes further information on how progress is calculated.
Calculations are dependent on which area of the platform you're viewing, so this guide is separated into the below areas:
- My profile - progress page
- Progress on collection
- Progress on collection (which contains a demonstrate lab)
- Progress on career path and custom career path
- Progress on custom collection
- Progress on achievements
- What happens when content is removed from a collection or career path?
My profile – progress page
This page shows an overview of your progress for any assigned lab content across all Immersive categories.
Assigned activities
The assigned activities section is divided into content that has been assigned by your manager (or platform administrator) and self-assigned content. It includes the following:
- Immersive collections
- Custom collections (created by your organization)
- Immersive career paths
- Custom career paths (created by your organization)
Labs
The labs section is broken down into various content categories found across Immersive (this is primarily found under 'Upskill,' but there may also be some challenges found under 'Exercise' depending on your license). It'll only include Immersive content.
- Immersive collections
How is progress calculated?
Progress is calculated based on the number of completed labs in each collection or career path, with the exception of collections that contain a demonstrate lab. In such cases, only the demonstrate lab will count towards the collection's (and overall) progress.
More on lab types here: lab types.
Licensing - notice for limited access
Depending on your license, you may not have access to certain labs. In such cases, even if you have completed all the labs available to you, your progress on that collection won't be 100%.
When this is the case, there'll be a notice on the relevant content page, above the collection(s) or lab(s) to let you know.
Progress on collections
How is progress calculated?
Your progress on a lab collection that does not include any demonstrate labs is determined by the number of completed labs.
More on lab types here: lab types.
Example:
If a collection has 10 labs, your progress will increase by 10%, for each lab completed.
Licensing - notice for limited access
Depending on your license, you may not have access to certain labs. In such cases, even if you have completed all the labs available to you, your progress on that collection won't be 100%.
If this is applicable, there'll be a notice above the relevant collection to let you know.
Progress on collections (which contain a demonstrate lab)
How is progress calculated?
Progress is calculated differently when a collection contains demonstrate labs. Completing these labs alone will complete the entire collection.
More on lab types here: lab types.
Demonstrate lab example:
A collection contains 10 labs, two of which are demonstrate labs. If you complete the two demonstrate labs, your progress will be 100%. However, if you completed only one of the demonstrate labs, and another non-demonstrate lab, your progress will be 20%. So each lab completed that is not the final demonstrate lab will count equally towards your progress until you complete the final demonstrate lab.
Licensing - Notice for limited access
Depending on your license, you may not have access to certain labs. In such cases, even if you have completed all the labs available to you, your progress on that collection won't be 100%.
If this is applicable, there'll be a notice above the relevant content to let you know.
Progress on career path and custom career path
How is progress calculated?
Progress is calculated based on the number of completed labs in each collection in the career path. The exception to this is where collections contain demonstrate labs - For more information on demonstrate labs and how they work in our collections - see the above example.
Licensing - Notice for limited access
Depending on your license, you may not have access to certain labs. In such cases, even if you have completed all the labs available to you, your progress on that collection won't be 100%.
If this is applicable, there'll be a notice above the relevant career path page to let you know.
Progress on custom collection
A custom collection is a collection of labs put together by your organization.
How is progress calculated?
Your progress for a custom collection is determined by the number of completed labs.
Example:
If a custom collection has 10 labs, your progress will increase by 10% for each lab completed.
Licensing - notice for limited access
Depending on your license, you may not have access to certain labs. In such cases, even if you have completed all the labs available to you, your progress on that collection won't be 100%.
If this is applicable, there'll be a notice above the collection page to let you know.
Progress on achievements
Once you earn an achievement, it will remain yours forever. This is the case even if labs are added to the Immersive collection or career path subsequently. If this happens, the progress for that content may then show less than 100% even though you have the achievement.
You can find more information on achievements here.
Licensing - notice for limited access
Depending on your license, you may not have access to certain labs. In such cases, even if you have completed all the labs available to you here, you may not reach 100% completion or be able to attain the achievement.
If this is applicable, there will be a notice above the content to let you know.
What happens when content is removed from a collection or career path?
Effect on progress for that collection or career path
Sometimes content will be removed from a particular collection or career path. This could happen if content is archived or no longer relevant. This will have the following effect on your progress:
- If you already had 100% completion, removal of content will not have any effect.
- If you haven't started the collection or career path, your progress will remain at 0%.
- If you were in progress (i.e., making your way through the collection or career path), this will depend on which content you've completed and how this impacts your percentage progress
E.g., if you had completed one out of 10 labs and one lab was removed from the collection, as long as the lab removed was not the one you had completed, your progress percentage would change from 10% (1/10 labs completed) to 11% (1/9 labs completed).
If the lab removed was the one lab you had completed, your progress would indicate 0% (as you have not completed any of the remaining nine labs).
Effect on total points
Points earned are permanent, regardless of any changes to the content that occur after you've earned your points. Therefore, the removal of content will not have any effect on your total number of points.
